Meet the team: Corey Lesieur
At Kalibrate, we believe our success is driven as much by our people as our technology. Here, we meet Corey Lesieur from our Marketing team who specializes in our location intelligence and EV solutions.
What is your role at Kalibrate?
I am the Global Marketing Executive for our location intelligence and EV solutions. It is a really exciting time to be a new member of the team as we have just launched our latest research into the EV market in our report – The Electric Evolution.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Since the rest of my team is based in the UK, I spend most of my mornings in meetings generating ideas, going over processes, analyzing the performance of our efforts, and just catching up with the rest of the team.
From there, I usually spend my days creating and brainstorming ideas for our marketing content and helping Tim, my manager, with whatever projects he needs to be pushed out. This works well as it means that we can constantly produce content as we work across both the UK and US time zones.
What do you love about your role at Kalibrate?
There are so many things I love most about my role. Since joining earlier in 2022, I’ve benefited from being in a supportive team, the good work culture, the banter with colleagues, and the wider opportunities to be creative and innovative.
I think the thing that I love most though is that things can and always change. So far there isn’t one part of my job that is repetitive and if there is a better way to do something, or we need to change our strategy, everyone is always open to it. This means that there is never a dull moment, and we are always striving to grow.
Shortly after starting at Kalibrate, I flew to Las Vegas with the rest of the location intelligence team to take part in the ICSC Las Vegas trade show. That kind of opportunity isn’t available to everyone in their first month at a new company!
Why did you choose to join Kalibrate?
What first attracted me to Kalibrate was the product and the wide variety of sectors served by the wider business.
Information Technology has always interested me and I never knew that there was a company that provided solutions for retail and service-led businesses to make real estate decisions and I was very intrigued.
I had my first round of interviews, and it was the people that attracted me most. I could tell the team I’d be working with had great values and Kalibrate was the type of company and team I wanted to be a part of.
What do you think are the greatest challenges and opportunities facing retailers?
The greatest challenge that retailers are facing is competing with growing e-commerce sales. During the pandemic, people became way more dependent on online shopping, and I think the companies that quickly adapted and scaled their e-commerce business made it out on top.
Many retailers that did not have a presence online were quickly caught out and had to catch up or try to keep up with brands that already had a strong e-commerce foundation.
I also think that the retail industry is going to start focusing more on convenience, but also customer experience. The data that we use can help answer many of the location-critical questions that retailers have, but it’s hard to draw customers in when it’s become easier and faster to shop online.
Companies are going to have to know who their customers are, and how to attract them to their stores by making everyday shopping easier and more enjoyable.
