Data, decisions, and the future of convenience retail at NACS Show 2025
Data-driven decisions that power performance
For over 40 years, Kalibrate has been the decision-making partner for fuel retailers — helping answer the crucial questions of where to compete and how to price. At NACS, we showcased the next evolution of our technology suite, empowering retailers to make smarter, faster, more confident decisions in a rapidly changing landscape.
Our redesigned Kalibrate Fuel Pricing platform took center stage, now featuring:
- A completely refreshed, intuitive interface that makes pricing faster and more agile.
- PriceSnap, a new AI-powered tool that turns photos of competitor price signs into actionable data.
- Local market insight embedded directly in the platform, providing clarity on competitor impact and overlap.
- EV Pricing, delivering dynamic pricing intelligence for electric charging networks.
We also revealed updates to Kalibrate Planning and Kalibrate Location Intelligence, with AI-driven explainers and voice-assisted insight tools (like K.ai) that make complex analytics accessible to every decision-maker.
Whether attendees were optimizing site portfolios, analyzing trade areas, or tackling EV pricing, the message was clear: Data doesn’t just inform decisions, it transforms them.
What we learned: Key themes from NACS 2025 education sessions
Our team attended several standout sessions that resonated deeply with Kalibrate’s mission to turn data into actionable intelligence. Here are some highlights:
Unlocking the power of data for smaller retailers
Mike Wilson, COO at Cubby’s Inc, reminded us that data isn’t just for big operators. Even small retailers already have goldmines of insight in their POS systems, waste logs, and vendor reports. The real advantage lies in speed. Small businesses can make data-driven changes faster, from optimizing labor hours to reducing waste and improving vendor negotiations.
His takeaway: “Every number should prompt the question — what am I going to do about it today?”
Forecourt strategies to increase trip frequency and conversion
Industry leaders including Derek Gaskins (BP International) and Craig Panter (Cullian Group) explored how AI and connected data ecosystems are reshaping mobility and customer engagement. The rise of AI-driven assistants in vehicles, such as integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, signals a future where frictionless transactions and personalized offers redefine loyalty and trip frequency.
Owning and securing customer data will be the cornerstone of success as convenience retail moves into an AI-integrated mobility era.
GLP–1s and the new snack equation
Sally Lyons Wyatt from Circana discussed how the surge in GLP–1 medication use (like Ozempic and Wegovy) is reshaping consumer behavior, especially in convenience retail. GLP–1 users are more health-focused, more disciplined, and still highly engaged convenience shoppers. Retailers who adapt assortments with protein-rich, portion-controlled, and sugar-free options are already seeing gains. The opportunity? Position convenience as a wellness ally, with curated assortments, smart portioning, and transparent nutritional messaging
The Kalibrate takeaway: Connecting the dots
What united every conversation, from AI in mobility to evolving snacking habits, was the power of connected intelligence. Whether you’re managing hundreds of sites or a handful, the future of retail success lies in seamlessly linking pricing, planning, and location insight into an intelligent ecosystem.
At NACS 2025, we saw first-hand that the retailers leading the way are those who don’t just collect data, they act on it.
If we didn’t get the chance to connect at NACS, we’d love to start a conversation.
