Overall, over the past decade, total gasoline and diesel sales at retail stations appear to have peaked in 2017.

Kalibrate Canada data indicates significant growth in supreme gasoline sales over the past decade, rising by 84.5 percent, while sales of premium and midgrade gasoline have contracted, resulting in an overall decrease of 6.8 percent in higher octane gasoline sales over the last ten years. During the same timeframe, sales of regular grade gasoline have declined by 1.6% , and sales of diesel fuel at retail gasoline stations have fallen by 6.1%.

- Midgrade – 89 octane
- Premium – 91 octane
- Supreme – 93 octane or higher
