The background

With over 5,000 locations worldwide, a QSR franchise identified expansion in new and existing countries as a key strategic initiative.

The ability to manage their real estate pipeline while identifying target areas would be critical in that effort. It would also be important to ensure buy-in from multiple franchisee partners throughout the world.

The challenge

The client had a range of software and analytical needs to support effective location decisions across the markets of interest.

  • Which countries should be prioritized for expansion?
  • What are the optimal number of locations in target countries and cities?
  • How do we manage global data and multiple real estate pipelines in various countries?

Answering each of these questions was critical to a successful engagement. Kalibrate deployed the full power of its global intelligence capabilities to gather the requisite data across territories.

The solution

Multiple datasets were utilized to evaluate opportunities at both a macro and micro level. Some markets had an existing store footprint while others were a true whitespace approach.

  • Where appropriate, demographics, psychographics, traffic, and POI leveraged alongside existing customer behavior to develop sales forecast models.
  • Bottom up approach allowed for opportunity to be identified at the local, market, and country level
  • Utilized Kalibrate Location Intelligence and Sync to centralize data from various countries into one source system, allowing for global visibility and comprehensive real estate pipeline management

With the global scope of the Kalibrate Location Intelligence platform, all data could be visualized, analyzed, and reported on from one source. We ensured users could quickly see the countries that offered the best prospect for new store growth along with prioritized points for focus real estate expansion. Where appropriate, a potential location could be added to the system and a sales projection created.

The result

Results from the global analysis could be reported from the Kalibrate Location Intelligence system to rank both countries and potential sites within each country. Custom forecast reports were developed to provide visualizations. A collection of reports and spatial visualizations were packed in Kalibrate Location Intelligence Map Books allowing for single-click real estate committee packages.

The comprehensive approach to global analytics alongside a centralized geospatial system has enabled the client to expand into new countries at an accelerated pace.
